We made our own font and call it LEVOTYPE

After recently re-branding our own company we decided to develop our own typeface.

LEVOTYPE001

Matthew Wiltz designed the font after he developed the typeface we used as our new logo. This is the first full font that he has ever made. It was a fun project and I hope that there are more typefaces to come.

We named the font Levotype because we liked the smoothness of the logo especially as a larger type. We took levo from the latin word for “smooth or polished”. We are excited to have completed it and have used it in our own promotional materials quite frequently.

Here is an example of our logo and how we have used the font there, and also branded “logo, print, and web” with the same typeface. “Pixelbrush” is made with Levotype and “studios” is verdana a common web based font ( and depending on your browser the font your reading now ).

Let us know what you think. Matt wants to hold onto his baby for now so if we get enough of a response we may be able to convince him to let it free. Imagine the world typing with a font that you made. Just another reason graphic design is such a cool job.

Back to work,

Tyler

Levotype is a gorgeous font guys. Well done. I love the curves and the modern “feel” of the typeface. It’s awesome.

Really beautiful and cool font! You should publish it for free, to help people who are less good in designing fonts, or don’t have the time to create them, but want to make beautiful websites!

You can use Creative common (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/) :-)

What do you think Matt?

Stef

Thanks Jonathan!

I am glad you like it. Look out for more to come. Checked out your blog and it had some great content.

Tyler

Thanks Stef!

I think we need to look into that. However it’s going to take a little more convincing before Matt releases it.

If you love something set it free. Please release Levotype for the world to use. I had big plans of making all my library signs with Levotype, only to be denied. It does look great and you should be very proud. I am so impressed! Keep up the good work.

Guys this is good stuff. This is like looking at modern art while you are reading.

Hey Tyler, thanks for the compliment – I appreciate that. Your blog’s not bad either. :-) Kudos.

Font rocks! Very well thought out design. I freaking love the slants in the “e”!
